The Waterfront

 

Wellington is lucky to have such a picturesque waterfront area, where you can get away from large high-rises and busy roads. A lot of resources have been put into developing and maintaining the waterfront which is enjoyed by thousands of Wellingtonians each year. Skate and kayak hire is available at Queen's Wharf, at the northen end of Jervois Quay. Further along, Frank Kitts Park offers nice green areas which are perfect for picnics. Oriental Bay is popular with joggers, cyclists, and walkers alike, with numerous stands and stalls selling anything from hot-dogs to ice creams to fresh fruit juices made while you wait. If you have some time to spare, do the Wellington thing and enjoy a walk along the waterfront.
